My Story

Chris Fong Chew 招偉明 (He/Him)s a master's student pursuing his MFA in Creative Writing, Poetry at Emerson College after finishing his undergrad at Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee, Chris spent many years studying free improvisation and contemporary classical music as well as music production and music arranging. During his studies, he began working as a writer for Dear Asian Youth, a global advocacy nonprofit which sparked his passion for poetry and the written word. Since then he has published several pieces with DAY as well Atlas Magazine, FUSION Magazine, OCA’s IMAGE magazine, Dear Asian Youth UCLA’s zine, as well as the Trident Poetry Collective Chapbook 1-3. 

 

Chris believes in the power of the arts and creativity to bring people together to grow and learn in community. This belief inspired him to found Collections of Transience as a space for writers and creatives to learn and grow together.
